About the Orlando Aero Club
The Orlando Aero Club (OAC), established in 1967, is one of Florida’s largest member-owned flying organizations. We are based on the northeast corner of the Showalter ramp at Orlando Executive Airport (KORL). The Club currently operates four (4) aircraft with an allowable membership of twenty (20) pilots per aircraft. All aircraft are professionally maintained and serviced by Orlando Aircraft Services and Showalter Flying Service.
The Orlando Aero Club is a member-owned organization. All active members own one (1) $25.00 share of stock ownership in the Club. Each club member (stock holder) is entitled to a single vote and is considered a partial owner of all Club assets, including the aircraft. The present status of the Club consists of a single division permitting total membership access to all aircraft the club operates.
One of the more unique aircraft available in the Club is the Citabria (7GCAA), an excellent aircraft for obtaining your tail-wheel endorsement and learning aerobatics. As with all flying organizations, training is an important aspect of the Orlando Aero Club. Yearly check rides for all member-owners are required. In addition, both initial and recurrent training for all ratings from Private though Airline Transport Pilot are available from Certified Flight Instructors who are members of Orlando Aero Club.
